The Wiscasset Senior Center

Doc. Schilke

Don't forget, next Monday, May 24, Molly Hahn will join us for lunch and then serenade us on the harp after lunch. Also I have it on good authority that we will have a surprise vocalist! This will be a double treat, so do plan to stay after lunch for this special concert. Remember to call and say you will be coming to lunch that day if you are not a ``regular attendee.''

We will be going to Vinalhaven on Tuesday, June 8. If you did not sign up for this trip on Monday, please sign up as soon as possible. Next week we will have final details on cost and when we will leave and return.

Last Thursday was our last computer class. There were a lot of ``Golly Gosh, Gee Whiz'' comments. There were always people there way before the class and just as many stayed afterwards too. The instructor, Linda Hazard, said we could take a break during class but we never did.

The last day there were comments like ``we should do more of this'' and ``we should have a computer at the Senior Center for our use.'' Well, all things are possible. We certainly could have more computer classes in the fall. Perhaps other kinds of classes too. Maybe classes for seniors by seniors. Got any ideas? Is there something you'd like to teach other seniors?

As I sat in that low, small chair at the computer class last Thursday, I thought, Wow, this is something. Earlier in the day young people were sitting here learning new technology and now, here in the late afternoon, young-at-heart people are learning the same new technology!

Learning sure is the elixir of life that keeps us all young! And isn't it wonderful that the Wiscasset Primary School students (both young and young-at-heart) have such powerful computers and peripherals to use?
