Dresden Selectmen Plan Tank Replacement
Douglas Morier
Dresden Selectmen are in the process of having a 2,000 gallon underground
gas tank replaced.
John Rzasa, James Rea and Win Moody assembled Monday in the Town Office for
their biweekly meeting. The main order of business was a discussion of plans
to replace the tank that lies underground near the West Dresden fire station.
It will be replaced with a diesel tank.
According to Moody, the proposed removal will take 30 days to be approved by
the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and will begin on Sept. 27.
The project has an $11,000 budget. So far $3,500 has been spent. A further
$900 is required to have the water quality inspected in the vicinity. With
approximately $4,000 spent out of a possible $11,000, Moody says, I still
think were well below our budget.
Tax bills will be sent out to the citizens of Dresden in the next several
days, according to Rzasa. Currently information is still being put into a
database to calculate the exact totals.
Once that process is complete, the bills will be sent. According to Rea, The
mill rate wont go up.
In other business, selectmen are seeking bids for companies that want to
provide fuel to the fire station.
The selectmen also approved their annual payment to Lincoln County, which was
a little more than $67,000.
The town office will be closed Sept. 1 and 3 for the Labor Day holiday.
