Westport Planning Blasting Ordinance
Charlotte Boynton
Westport Planning board member Curt Downer presented an outline of a new blasting ordinance to the selectmen at their January 16 meeting. According to Downer, the ordinance is the result of research from existing blasting ordinances. It focuses on determining liabilities and responsibilities rather than strict regulations. Each provision of the ordinance was discussed and several recommendations were made. Downer also told the selectmen the planning board is still reviewing the changes to the proposed subdivision ordinances suggested by land use attorney William Dale. Town Hall Painting According to William Cooney it will cost $25,000 to paint the old town hall. There is currently $13,000 available for that purpose. First Selectman George Richardson will work with Cooney to look into possible grant sources. Town Reports The Lincoln County Publishing Company submitted a bid for printing the town reports. The bid came in at $2,362 for 750 town reports, costing $3.15 for each report. Last year the reports cost $2.90 each. The selectmen took no action at their meeting regarding the bid. Richardson said he wanted to wait until the full board was present before taking to a vote. |
