Piccirillo wasn't sure what kind of an animal it was at first, and thought perhaps it was dead. However, when he took a second look, the animal moved, and he discovered it was a baby turkey.

He removed the animal from the crate, and took the baby turkey to the Damariscotta Veterinarian Clinic, where his wife, Dee, works to have the animal checked out.

The turkey was found to be in good health and was adopted by Dr. Christine Welch, a veterinarian who is licensed to care for wild animals.
