Raymond Alden, Jr.
Raymond M. Alden Jr., 81, of Yarmouth, passed away at Mercy
Hospital on Saturday, July 17, after a short illness. Born on October 3, 1922 in Rockland, he was the son of Ray-
mond and Vera Alden. In 1941, he graduated from Everett High
School in Everett, Mass. Mr. Alden proudly served his countryin the United States Navy
during WWII from 1941 to 1947.He served on aircraft carriers and
returned to civilian life as a First Class Petty Officer,
Aviation Mechanics Mate. On May 10, 1947, he married Roberta A. Marden in Waterville Hegraduated from California State Polytechnic College in San
Luis Obispo, California in 1951, majoring in Air Conditioning
and Refrigeration. Mr. Alden worked for American Moistening Company as a sales rep
for Amtrol in West Warwick, R. I. He then started his own
business as a sales rep, which he ran until his retirement. Hewas a member of the Lion's Club, the YMCA, and a Deacon of
the Yarmouth Congregational Church. He was also a member of the
Tuttle Road Methodist Church. Helived in Yarmouth since 1962. Survivors include wife, Roberta; three children, John W. of
Topsham, Raymond M. of Newcastle, and Laurel A. Eddings of Gales
Ferry, Conn.; two sisters, Alice Rossborough of Rackliff Island,
Maine and Elizabeth Pearse of Hope, Maine; six grandchildren,
Rebecca and John Alden Jr., Raymond Jr. and Spencer Alden and
Christopher and Jennifer Eddings. A private committal service will be held for the family only. A
celebration of Mr. Alden's life will be scheduled at a later
date. Arrangements are under the care of Pine State Cremation, 500
Route One, Yarmouth, ME 04096.
