Dennis S. Genthner, Jr. (Sam), 59, of Damariscotta, died Sunday August 29th at Maine Medical Center in Portland. Born February 25, 1945 in Damariscotta, he was a son of Dennis S. Genthner, Sr. and Edna Waltz Genthner who predeceased him. He attended local schools. Mr. Genthner worked at the old Brewer shipyard for several years in Southport and spent several years in the commercial fishing industry. He also worked at Disney World in Florida during its construction. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed life to its fullest. Survivors include his son, Samuel Barrett Genthner of San Francisco, Calif.; one sister, Natalie House and her fianc Bill Earle of Damariscotta; one brother, Neil F. Genthner, Sr. and his wife Marie of Damariscotta; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hall Funeral Home,949 Main St. in Waldoboro. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Damariscotta. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Hall Funeral Home, Waldoboro. Thelma C. Lane, 55, of Edgecomb, died Tuesday, August 24, at her sister-in-law's residence in Wiscasset. Born in Boothbay Harbor on December 7, 1948, she was the daughter of Kenneth T. and Thelma (Warren) Chubbuck. She attended schools in Wiscasset and graduated from Wiscasset High School. She was employed by the Wiscasset school department. Mrs. Lane enjoyed caring for the elderly, her family and friends. She will be missed by all who loved her. She was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Chubbuck on November 20, 2001. Survivors include her mother, Thelma Chubbuck of Edgecomb; one son, Larry A. Matthews and his wife Kristin of Kennebunk; one daughter, Ashley Lane of Edgecomb; five brothers, Dan, Neil, and Carroll Chubbuck, all of Edgecomb, Brian Chubbuck of Wiscasset, and Gene Chubbuck of Whitefield; one sister, Pamela Sprague of Edgecomb; one grandson, Zachary Matthews; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service was held Tuesday, August 31, at the Open Bible Baptist Church in Wiscasset with Rev. Glen West officiating. A gathering followed at the church. Leeman, 70, of Woolwich died Tuesday, August 31 at his home after a long illness. Born in Woolwich on March 19, 1934, he was the son of Hollis and Ruth (Hayward) Leeman. He attended Woolwich schools. On February 26, 1954, he married his beloved wife Julia A. Bates. They made their home for 38 years in Woolwich. Julia died August 3, 1992. Mr. Leeman worked many jobs in his younger years including truck driving for the State Highway Dept., Bisson, and Hillcrest (loading chickens). He had his own rubbish route for years. He worked for Bath Iron Works as a welder and boiler operator where he retired after 27 years due to health problems. For a few years, he was a volunteer fireman in Woolwich; and for 19 years he was a member of the Elks in Brunswick. He enjoyed gardening, building projects around the house, fishing trips with his brothers and friends in Bingham and going to fairs to see horse and steer pulling. He was predeceased by his parents, his first wife Julia A. Bates Leeman, sister Marilyn Wing, and brother Charles Joseph Leeman. Survivors include his second wife of 10 years Linda E. Leeman of Woolwich; sons Kerry R. Leeman and his wife Crystal of Wiscasset, Carroll E. Leeman and companion Cathy McGuire of Augusta, and Kevin L. Leeman and his wife Donna of Topsham; daughter Cathy Pierce of Woolwich; brothers Hollis Leeman Jr. of Woolwich, William A. Leeman of Freeport, and Edward H. Leeman of Bath; sisters Evelyn Webber ofReynoldsburg,Ohio, Margaret Hodgdon of Wiscasset, Mary King of Woolwich, Arlene Wallace of Bath, and Esther Hauck of Woolwich; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six step-children; 15 step-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. At Mr. Leeman's request, there will be no funeral services. In his memory, donations may be made to Chans Hospice, 50 Baribeau Dr., Brunswick, ME 04011, or the Woolwich Fire Dept., 17 Nequasset Rd., Woolwich, ME 04579. Thomas, 73, of Wiscasset, formerly of Boothbay Harbor, died Wednesday, August 25 at Mid Coast Hospital in Brunswick from prostate cancer. Born December 22, 1930 in Haddonfield, N.J., he was the son of Osborne and Mary Harner Thomas. He grew up in Haddonfield, N.J. and graduated from Haddonfield Memorial High School in the class of 1949. Mr. Thomas attended the University of Pennsylvania and was drafted into the Army where he served as a medic during the Korean War. After the war he graduated with a B.S. degree from University of Pennsylvania. He also received his Masters degree at Rutgers University. For many years he was a Marine Biologist working for the Department of Fish & Game in New Jersey, Department of Fish & Game in California and lastly at the Department of Marine Resources in Boothbay Harbor. He was the senior scientist who directed the Lobster Research Project at Department of Marine Resources. In 1983, he retired and in 1987, he moved to Wiscasset. Mr. Thomas enjoyed watching sporting events, boating, hunting, fishing, golfing, traveling and working in his vegetable garden. He especially enjoyed the activities of his twin granddaughters who were the joy of his life. He predeceased by his brother, Robert O. Thomas. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Frieda K. Thomas of Wiscasset; one daughter, Dawn K. Thomas and her husband Francis Lorello of So. Portland; two grandchildren, Maureen K. Lorello and Dilyse T. Lorello of So. Portland;four nieces and four nephews. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, September 3 at the Boothbay Harbor Congregational Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1 Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086, or Hydrocephalus Association, 870 Market Street, Suite 705, San Francisco, CA 94102 .
