Dresden To Review New Town Offices
Ryan Thompson
A new committee to study the feasibility of building a central municipal office for the town of Dresden met for the first time on October 20. Voters authorized the selectmen to appoint the committee at a special town meeting in July. The building would be located in or near the center of town, and would house fire equipment, town offices, a community center and meeting room. The volunteer committee is charged with researching the design, financing, location, and costs. They will report back to the town at the next town meeting; the final decision will be made by the voters. The 10-member committee includes selectman James Rea, planning board chair Rick Graffam, firefighter Roger David, codes enforcement officer Rick Lang, Tom Foss, Danny Stewart, Harold Shorette, Heather Beasley, John Rzasa and Peter Lincoln. Rzasa was selected chairman and Beasley was selected secretary. According to Beasley some of the discussions at the first meeting included the cost, location, and the pros and cons of one building compared to existing buildings. Members of the committee also discussed the financial implications of the Palesky Tax Cap. The committee will hold their next meeting on November 8 at 6 p.m. at the fire station. |
