Westport Island

Sympathy is being sent out to the family and friends of George
Harrison who passed away on October 25.I had a note from Roni and Mario at the Squire Tarbox Inn with very interesting news about the lamb that they will be serving for dinner on November 5. There will be a five course dinner with Westport Island raised lamb being the main course. Roni and Mario thought that it would be fun for the people on the island to have the opportunity of having an evening out with a little local interest. David Bertran, who lives on the North End Road, raised the lamb. So with a call you can make your reservations and see how home raised lamb can be prepared and presented. Dedee has let me know that the town office will be closed on November 11, Veteran's Day The next get together of Friends and Neighbors will be on November 15 at 3 p.m. at the town office building. It would be nice to see you there to visit and catch up on what is going on with your neighbors and friends. Friends and Neighbors get together every other Monday afternoon. We have decided that as long as we can bring a little joy to everyone by being there for a visit, we will keep trying to get this up and going. The little Baptist church would like to invite you to come and worship with them on Sunday mornings at 9 a.m. The Reverend Ken McCowan is a good teacher of God's word and his sermons are very enjoyable. The Community Association Church will be putting on the annual Christmas Service on December 12. People are needed to sing in the choir for that evening. There will be four rehearsals, the first being on November 13 at the town office building at 9 a.m. They hope to get enough of you to have a full voice choir. If you would like to come out and sing some Christmas carols, please come by and join them. The rest of the rehearsals will be November 20 and December 4 at the town office building at 9 a.m. The last one will be at the church on December 12 at 1 p.m. with the service being at 7 p.m. that evening. Island Variety is selling raffle tickets for the quilt donated by Friendship Chain Quilt Group to our fire department for a fundraiser. Tickets may also be purchased from the fire department volunteers. The Fire Department is excited about the number of people that have purchased raffle tickets for the quilt. |
