The Wiscasset Newspaper - Online Edition
Feb 08, 2007 "Serving Alna, Dresden, Edgecomb, Westport, Wiscasset and Woolwich" Vol 38, Number 6

The documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth," will be shown at Senior Spectrum's Coastal Community Center on Friday, February 16 at noon . Afterwards, Jo Clauson, a member of the St. Andrews Earth Care Committee will lead an informal discussion about global warming. Participants are welcome to bring lunch.

A companion documentary to the book of the same name, "An Inconvenient Truth" chronicles the career of former vice president Al Gore as he focuses on potentially one of the biggest issues facing future generations, global warming. Gore lays out the case for the causes of warming, and traces his concerns with this phenomenon, from his early days in politics through the aftermath of the 2000 Presidential election.

The film grew from a slideshow presentation about global warming that Gore has given over the years. The film is directed and produced by Davis Guggenheim.

In the introduction to his book, "An Incontinent Truth," Gore writes, "After more than 30 years as a student of the climate crisis, I have a lot to share. I have tried to tell this story in a way that will interest all kinds of readers. My hope is that those who read the book and see the film will begin to feel, as I have for a long time, that global warming is not just about science and that it is not just a political issue. It is really a moral issue".

Following the Coastal Community Center's social lunch on Wednesday, February 28, Paul Kando will provide information about what can be done about global warming.
