Ruth W. McLellan

Ruth Wagstaff McLellan of Boothbay Harbor, died suddenly on Thursday, February 1.

Born August 24, 1954, in Boothbay, she was the daughter of Charles and Ella Farnham Wagstaff.

In 1972 she graduated from Boothbay Region High School.

She brightened the days of everyone that came to Hannaford, where she worked for 20 years, with her wonderful smile.

Mrs. McLellan loved her cats, enjoyed knitting, reading and spending time with her mom and daughter.

In May 1972 she married to Michael McLellan.

She was predeceased by her infant son, Michael; her father, Charles Wagstaff; and her brother, Chuck Wagstaff; also her kitty, Butchie.

Survivors include one daughter, Angie McLellan of Boothbay Harbor; her cat, Chloe Annie Kitty; her mother, Ella Wagstaff of Boothbay; two brothers, Peter Wagstaff and his wife Ronnie of Boothbay Harbor; and Jack Wagstaff and his wife Grace of Woolwich; three sisters, Mary Pinnette of Lisbon; Freda Truchon and her husband Bud of New Hampshire; Gayle White and her husband David of Warren; several nieces and nephews.

At Ruth's request there will be no funeral.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556.

Arrangements are entrusted to Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Boothbay.

Earl W. Tomlinson

Earl Whitaker Tomlinson, of Wiscasset, died on Friday, February 2, at Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta, after a month-long battle with cancer.

Born February 3, 1920, in Philadelphia, Penn., he was the son of Thomas and Amy Felton Tomlin-son of Glen Ridge, N.J.

Mr. Tomlinson, fondly known as "Whit," was a graduate of Newark Academy and Upsala College. During World War II, he attended Columbia University and went on to serve in the United States Navy aboard the YMS477 in the Pacific Theater.

After his Navy service, Lt. Tomlinson married Alice Louise White in 1948 in Ridgewood, New Jersey. During his career, Mr. Tomlinson was Vice President for 37 years of Church and Co., manufacturers of gold and platinum jewelry. Together, the Tomlinsons enjoyed raising Registered American Quarter Horses in Upper Saddle River, New Jersey, and summering in Ocean Point.

In 1984 Mr. Tomlinson retired, and he and his wife became year-round residents at Grimes Cove Farm, Ocean Point. Ten years later, in 1994, the Tomlinsons moved to the town of Wiscasset.

During his retirement, he became a skilled wood turner, crafting many beautiful pieces for family and friends. He was a familiar figure around Young's Point in Wiscasset and near the family cottage at Ocean Point, happily walking and enjoying the out of doors with his faithful black lab, Abby.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Tomlinson was predeceased by two of his children, infant son, Jeffrey Whitaker Tomlinson; and daughter, Holly Lynn Tomlinson; as well as his sister, Catharine Bartlett of Penn.; and his brother William Felton Tomlinson of N.J.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Alice; one daughter, Jennifer T. Morrison, a teacher in the Augusta School System; three grandchildren, Johanna R. Stickney and her husband Lt. Norman Stickney of Gardiner, Andrew Whitaker Tomlinson of Philadelphia, Penn., and Thomas Alexander Morrison of Augusta.

Visiting hours will be Friday, February 9, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Simmons, Harrington & Hall Funeral Home, 975 Wiscasset Road in Boothbay. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 10, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Boothbay.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Tomlinsons's memory may be directed to The Lincoln County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 7, Edgecomb, ME 04556; or the American Diabetes Association Research Foundation, ATT: Jennifer Giorf-fino, 1701 North Beauregard St., Alexandria, VA 22311.
