Five Generations Gather FIVE GENERATIONS GATHER to celebrate the birth of the youngest member of the King family tree. Amanda King, the family matriarch, 97, front row right, is holding six-week-old great-great-grandson, Brayden Kloza, the son of Danielle and Alex Gloza the newe |
The latest addition to the close-knit King family in Woolwich means
there are now five generations, all living in Maine.
Danielle Kloza, the wife of Alex, and the granddaughter of Robert and
Mary King, Jr. of Woolwich, gave birth to Brayden Kloza July 24. The new
baby is certainly not lacking for potential babysitters with grandparents,
great-grandparents and the King family matriarch great-great-grandmother
Amanda King, of Bath, who will be 98 years old in December, still in her
home, and living independently.
Danielle is the daughter of Dan King, and his wife Deborah. Dan is the
son of Robert Jr. and Mary King. Robert, Jr. is the son of Amanda King and
the late Robert King Sr.
Amanda and Robert King Sr. (Robert King passed away in 2004), raised
five children in the Bath/ Woolwich area. There are three sons, David and
Robert of Woolwich, and Dennis now living in Florida. Their two daughters
Barbara Harriman, and Melvernna Moore are both deceased.
Robert Sr. worked in the Bath area for many years, at Bath Iron Works,
Hyde Windless, and for Norm Howard, who owned a coal and oil company on
Commercial Street in Bath during the late 1930s, 1940s and early
1950s.
Amanda worked at the Brunswick Naval Air Station, and then the Bath
School Department for many years. After she retired from the school
department she went to work at Chewonki in Wiscasset.
The family got together recently at the home of Amanda in Bath, to
welcome the new family member, and to allow Brayden to be held by his
great-great-grandmother, an opportunity she really enjoyed.
Alex, Danielle, and Brayden make their home in Freeport
