Dresden harvest supper Oct. 13
Dresden Historical Society is preparing for its annual Harvest Supper,
Saturday, October 13. As always, there will be two seatings, one at 5 p.m.
and one at 6:30 p.m.
There will be a full course turkey dinner with all the trimmings,
followed by homemade pies and desserts. The price is $8 for adults and $4
for children. Reservations should be made ahead of time, especially for
the first seating, as it does sell out.
You may pay at the door for your group; tickets will be waiting for you
with your name on them. Please call Julie Rea at 737-4203 or Mary Haven
at 737-4466. These numbers are different from last year.
This supper has been a tradition now for 21 years and helps us continue
our mission to keep the museum open and safeguard our heritage.
The society has taken on the restoration of another one-room
schoolhouse, now called "The Yellow Schoolhouse," known previously as the
Allen School and the Middle Bridge School. It was moved from near that
bridge to its present location next to the Brick School Museum in
2003.
It has been an ongoing labor of love since then to bring it up to
modern standards, with plumbing, new wiring, and more room for meetings
and storage. We were bursting the seams of the Brick School. With much
volunteer help, several local builders and discounts at local businesses,
it is nearing completion. We have yet to install a septic system, but
have a design in hand, a necessary first step.
