Dresden Conservation Commission

The Dresden Conservation Commission encourages residents and others to submit photographs of Dresden that show outdoor subjects and the town's scenic beauty. Any subject that shows some aspect of Dresden outdoors, including plants, animals, roads, buildings or people, is eligible for the show as long as the "outdoors" is the primary subject. Submissions are not restricted to Dresden residents, but Dresden must be the subject.

The Commission will not "judge" the photos. Instead, Dave Higgins of Sheepscot, a professional photographer, will attend the November 4 opening at Bridge Academy to talk about the photos and answer questions about photography, cameras, paper, etc.

How to Enter

Participants must fill out an entry form, available at Bridge Academy Public Library, the Dresden Town Office, or by download from Dresden's site: www.townofdresden.com .

Up to five prints may be submitted (no slides or CDs) of digital or film photographs, preferably without frames or mats, to the Town Office (hours: on the web site under "contact us") or the Bridge Academy Public Library (Tues. and Thurs., 2 to 7 p.m., Sat. 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) by November 1.There is no entry fee.

If you would be willing to have your pictures and name (as the photographer) used in non-commercial town publications, such as the town report, or posted on the town's website, without reimbursement, check the "Permission to Publish" box, then sign and date the statement (on the entry form). If your picture includes the face of a person who could be identified from the photo, please get that person's verbal permission to exhibit the picture.

For more information, call or email Dresden Conservation Commission chair Tim Nason: 737-8278 ( timn a son@gwi.net ). Bridge Academy Public Library is located at 44 Middle Road (Route 127) just south of Dresden Mills village on Route 27.

The fifth Annual Photo Show opens on Sunday, November 4 from 2 to 4 p.m.

Beverages and snacks will be provided. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to share the stories behind making their pictures. Anyone may attend the opening -- submission of photographs to the show is not required
