Children's Book Week is November 12-18. In conjunction with this event, the Children's Room at Wiscasset Public Library will be having a week-long open house so children, parents and the community can view and check out the new books received from The Libri Foundation.

Children's librarian Jean Shippee applied for a Books for Children Grant from the The Libri Foundation and was awarded $1,050. The Friends of Wiscasset Public Library contributed $350 to The Libri Foundation which they matched on a two to one ratio. Shippee then selected the 67 books from a list provided by The Foundation. The books received are new, quality, hardcover children's books, all published since 2001, and are books that have won awards or have been highly recommended by recognized authorities in the library and education fields.

The books received include board books for the very youngest children; picture books for story time at home or at the library; biographies; poetry; fiction chapter books for early readers, primary and middle school readers; and nonfiction books for the various reading levels.

Open house will be November 13 - 17 during regular library hours: Tuesday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Wednesday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Saturday 9 a.m. to -2 p.m. For more information, call 882-7161.
