Josephine "Jo" Bryer

Josephine "Jo" Bryer, 91, of Wiscasset, died Monday, November 5 at home.

A memorial service is tentatively set for Saturday, November 17 at the Congregational Church in Wiscasset.

A full obituary will be in next week's paper.

Barbara E. Miete

Barbara E. Miete, 92, of Wiscasset, died Thursday, November 1 at Winship Green Nursing Center in Bath.

Born in Boston, Mass., July 18, 1915, she was a daughter of Fred and Edith (Erskine) Reed.

She graduated from Roslindale High School in Massachusetts. In September of 1933 she married Paul H. Miete and they resided in Alna. In 1995 she moved to Wiscasset.

Mrs. Miete was a member of the Newcastle Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, sculpturing, antiques, gardening, arts and crafts.

She was predeceased by her husband, Paul H. Miete on January 25, 1989; two brothers, Philip Reed and Fred Reed.

Survivors include one son, Paul H. Miete and his wife Shirley; one daughter, Ann Flanders, all of Wiscasset; 11 grandchildren, 21 great- grandchildren; 17 great-great- grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 10 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street in Wiscasset. Burial will follow at Alna Cemetery in Alna.

Mark S. Munroe

Mark Scott Munroe, 46, a resident of North Newcastle died unexpectedly on Monday, November 5 at the Miles Memorial Hospital in Damariscotta.

A celebration of Mr. Munroe's life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, November 10 at the Hall Funeral Home in Waldoboro.

Beatrice C. Shea

Beatrice C. Shea, 90, of Wiscasset, died Wednesday, October 31, surrounded by her family.

Born in Wiscasset on June 22, 1917, she was a daughter of Horace and Caroline Jones, and grew up on Westport Island.

In 1945 she married Harold A. Shea, Sr. and made their home in Wiscasset.

Mrs. Shea enjoyed cooking, and caring for the many children throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Huntoon Hill Grange and also, for years worked at the Bingo that the Grange had every Friday night. She enjoyed her many trips walking to and from town in her younger years, and visiting her numerous long-time neighbors.

She fought a battle with cancer with courage and dignity.

Mrs. Shea was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1980; a sister, Bertha; three brothers, Horace Jr., Carroll and Stanley Jones.

Survivors include two brothers, Manley Jones of East Hampstead, N.H. and Clark Jones of Wiscasset; two sons, Harold Shea Jr. and his wife Alice of Wiscasset and Russell Shea and his wife Leona of Augusta; four daughters, Sandra Cornish and her husband Bill of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Susan Spillane of Wiscasset, Cindy Bradford and her husband Dan of Westport Island and Tori McGregor and her husband Russell of Melbourne, Australia; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Jackson Cemetery in Wiscasset. Refreshments will be served after at the Huntoon Hill Grange Hall in Wiscasset.

In recognition of the outstanding and compassionate care provided by CHANS Hospice Care, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CHANS Hospice, 60 Baribeau Drive, Brunswick, ME 04011.

Grover A. Sprague

Grover A. Sprague, 84, of Wiscasset, died Wednesday, October 31 at Cove's Edge in Damariscotta.

Born in Machias on May 11, 1923, he was a son of Fred A. and Annie (Murphy) Sprague. He graduated from East Machias Academy.

Mr. Sprague served in the United States Air Force and on May 29, 1942 he married Thelma Berry.

He owned and operated his logging business called Grover Sprague & Sons and later sold insurance for North Western Mutual Life in Wiscasset for many years.

Mr. Sprague was a member of the American Legion in Wiscasset. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, flying his plane, and partridge hunting.

He was predeceased by six brothers, Bruce, Blair, Rowland, Arnold, Charles and Quintin; and two sisters, Lula Sprague and Carrie Sprague.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Sprague of Wiscasset; three sons, Donald Sprague and his wife Mona of Jefferson, Frank Sprague and his wife Linda, and Marvin Sprague, all of Wiscasset; seven grandchildren; nine great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Sunday, November 4 at Mayo & Daigle Funeral Home, 40 Federal Street in Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter officiating.

Alberta G. Titcomb

Alberta Blanche (Grover) Pontau Titcomb, 76, of Wiscasset, died Friday, November 2 at her residence.

Born in Wiscasset on November 23, 1930, she was the daughter of Ernest and Dorothy Grover.

She attended Wiscasset schools and graduated from Wiscasset Academy in 1948. On August 14, 1948 she married Gerhard W. Pontau, who predeceased her on November 17, 1964. In September of 1970 she married her second husband, Harold Titcomb, who also predeceased her on June 7, 1982.

Mrs. Titcomb enjoyed spending time with her family, Bingo and chatting online with her many friends. She was always one to load her family in the car to go watch relatives at the stock car races. Known for never missing a game, she spent a lot of her time watching her children and later her grandchildren at school sports.

Survivors include her longtime companion, Russell Wellman of Wiscasset; one daughter, Patricia E. Porter and her husband John of West Gardiner; three sons, Robert A. Pontau and his wife Louann, Michael A. Pontau and his companion Cathy Darling, and Scott A. Pontau and his wife Richelle, all of Wiscasset; four brothers, Ernest Grover Jr. of Wiscasset, Clayton Grover of Newcastle, Herbert Grover, and Merle Grover, both of Wiscasset; three sisters, Ann Merry of Wiscasset, Shirley Bailey of Clinton and Dorothy Pickering of Wiscasset; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Tuesday, November 6 at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset with Rev. John Potter officiating. Burial followed at Greenlawn Cemetery in Wiscasset.
