What's Happening in the Wiscasset area
On Saturday, December 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. St. Philip's Episcopal
Church, 12 Hodge St. in Wiscasset will have its Christmas Fair. There will
be handmade wreaths, sprays and swags, decorative containers, local
crafters, baked goods and much more. Soup and sandwich lunch available.
Bargain Basement Thrift Store will also be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Old-fashioned family holiday traditions will be carried out in
Wiscasset on Saturday, December 8.
The Morris Farm has organized a number of activities that are open to
everyone from noon until 4 p.m. The farm is located on the Gardiner Road,
Route 27. Right after that, at 4:30 p.m. the town's annual tree lighting
and carol singing gets underway at the town common.

The annual Wiscasset celebration of the lighting of the town trees and
carol singing will be Saturday, December 8 at 4:30 p.m. on the town
common.
Come join us for a community sing-a-long with chorus members from the
schools. Refreshments will be served in Fellowship Hall. Everyone is
welcome. Come and enjoy this joyous celebration.
Northfield to sing Sunday
An eight-member a cappella group called Northfield will be performing
at the First Congregational Church of Wiscasset this Sunday, December 9,
at 3 p.m. Based in the Farmington area, Northfield specializes in
Renaissance music, including medieval and classic works. A free will
offering will be taken.
Bereaved families worldwide will gather on Sunday, December 9 to light
candles in memory of children who have died too soon. It is called the
Compassionate Friends Worldwide Candle Lighting.
This event will be held in Wiscasset at 7 p.m., with people gathering
at 6:30 p.m. at the Wiscasset Community Center. It is suggested that
people bring their own candles, and, if they desire, pictures or other
mementos. Anyone who would like to share memories of a child is welcome to
do so. The community center is at 242 Gardiner Road, Route 27 (for more
information, call 882-8230 and leave a message for Nancy).
On Sat., Dec. 15, the Lincoln County Animal Shelter (LCAS) will hold
its annual open house from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served
and gifts for the animals are welcome, especially food for the dogs and
cats and toys for all, plus any amount of monetary gifts.
From noon until 2 p.m., pictures will be taken with Santa and your pet
-- all pets will be greeted with love at the party.
LCAS Stars for the Spay/Neuter program can now be purchased at local
businesses -- you can write the name of your pets, past and present on the
stars, and at the open house you can help decorate the tree with your
stars. At this time there will be a Blessing of the Animals past, present
and always by Father Picard, from St. Patrick's Church.
Children of all ages and their parents are invited to come and have
milk and cookies with Santa Claus on Saturday, December 15 from 1 to 3
p.m. at the Alna Fire House on Route 218 in Alna.
This event is sponsored by the Alna Alders 4-H group. Don't miss your
chance to talk with Santa, make some reindeer food and decorate a
cookie.
St. Philip's Episcopal Church on 12 Hodge Street in Wiscasset, will
hold a Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 16 at 7 p.m.
St. Philip's Christmas Eve Services - Children's Nativity Service at 4
p.m., and Candlelight "Midnight Mass" Service at 10:30 p.m. on 12 Hodge
