I hope everyone is able to stay warm during this time of bone chilling weather! Please take a moment to think of those less fortunate individuals who are your friends and neighbors and give thought to making a donation to the Human Resource Committee. With the cuts in funding for special programs, the HRC is likely to have requests for help this winter.
The Holiday Craft Faire held at the Squire Tarbox Inn was a great success again this year. Those who planned the affair would like to thank all of those who took part as well as those who attended.
I understand the Christmas program at the Community Church was attended by many people this year. I've heard comments about how beautiful the service was and what a pleasure it was to see so many people of all ages in the choir.
Bob Mooney is our fire chief and also our E.M.A. director. Working full time while doing his best to perform successfully in both positions is stressful. He'd like to find a few volunteers to help out. He needs an assistant E.M.A. director. This person could help by attending classes often held during his regular work hours. They could also help coordinate paper work and volunteers. He also needs several volunteers.
It wouldn't be a huge commitment and most anyone would be able to fulfill these positions. Mainly, they would man the station when there was an emergency situation such as a big storm. They could keep the station open while the firefighters were out on calls. PLEASE, if you have any interest, call Bob at 882-5952. Volunteering is a great way to help out a community you love; it also gives you a chance to meet your neighbors.
This Sunday the store will be offering a boiled dinner with corned beef as their special from 1 to 5 p.m. They have found great success in offering specials to go, so don't hesitate to call ahead and dinner will be ready when you get there (882-9300)! |
