Tell It To George
Tell It To George is a collection of thoughts from here and away, from
people who want to get their two cents worth in, without using their
names.
For two weeks now, we have had no submissions.
What's up?
Oops, here's a last minute
one…
Items in a recent issue of the Wiscasset Newspaper:
One of Westport's Perpetually Dissatisfied Gentry sues the town
to reimburse her for cutting down a tree on a town way. Most would think
that would just be doing a neighborly or community-minded good deed. But
not to those whose sense of community was shaped in the affluent suburbs
of New York, where a town is just an institution to serve their own
selfish needs.
A new property owner in a self-described Wiscasset "up-scale
development," who lives in Virginia for most of the year, offers his
wisdom - based on a year of seasonal residence - to the locals on how to
fix a 40-year-old traffic problem, and coincidently protect his precious
"view."
If you look at how "upscale development" has polluted the environment
of Westport, I'm puzzled why anyone would choose it over a coal plant.
At least a coal plant would provide a few jobs above yard work scale.
Does it matter if it is coal dust or upscale retirees? The community is
the worse for either.
