St. Philip's Episcopal Church's is annual Mardi Gras/Shrove Tuesday celebration will be held on Tuesday, February 5 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church.

This day, also known as Fat Tuesday, marks the last night of celebrations before the season of Lent is ushered in on Ash Wednesday, February 6. The event features a pancake supper, a piņata for the children, a costume parade for kids of all ages and the burying of the "Alleluias" in preparation for the Lenten season.

The Sunday school children have made this year's piņata and filled it with surprises for all. This event is free and open to the public but donations are graciously accepted and designated for our weekly food pantry, the Help Yourself Shelf.

St. Philip's is located at 12 Hodge Street in Wiscasset. For more information, contact the church at 882-7184. Ash Wednesday services will be held at noon and at 7 p.m.
