"Fins & Flippers," the ultimate hands-on experience will be presented by Prema Long, Chewonki outreach instruction on Monday, February 4, from to 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Join us for a two-part presentation beginning with a slide show examining the four major groups of marine mammals, including whales, dolphins, and seals, their adaptations for living in the marine environment, and the many threats they face. Then, participants will reconstruct a real 16-foot pilot whale skeleton. Completing this once-living puzzle creates an ideal format for discovery, learning, and discussion of the relationships between form and function.

The presentation will be held at the Center for Environmental Education, under our magnificent 55-foot Northern Fin Whale skeleton suspended from the ceiling in Chapin Hall. Long will help participants make marine mammal connections with this exceptional educational model.

The cost for adults is $5; kids FREE. All ages welcome, recommended for second graders and older.
