Karl's Kids Gathering to support "Karl's Kids" are, front row, left to right, Abbie Andrews, Emma Hall, Sebi Crocetti, Theo Crocetti and Joseph Levesque (in baby seat); second row, left to right, Susan Levesque, holding Austin Levesque and Mark Andrews. |
Karl's Kids" was conceived to honor the late Karl Berger's passion for
athletics, specifically, children's athletics in Lincoln County, because
he devoted much of his time educating and working with kids to better
themselves as athletes and as people.
Because of his passion for skiing at Sugarloaf, we are asking skiers
and non-skiers to join in the fun at Sugarloaf on Saturday, March 1 for a
day of skiing, along with a fun race with prizes and a silent auction and
reception at the Sugarloaf Hotel. Special discounted ski tickets and have
been arranged, but ski tickets must be purchased not later than Feb.
26.
We are looking for interested people to form teams (families,
companies, friends) and get people in the community to help sponsor your
team either on a per run basis (how many runs a team does in a day) or a
flat donation. Event packets and donation forms can be emailed to you if
you request by calling Mike Hall at 631-1471.
The event will kick off on Friday, Feb. 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a
welcome reception at the Sugarloaf Hotel. Saturday, March 1, there will
be a registration from 7 to 8 a.m., followed by skiing from 8 a.m. to 2
p.m.
At 2 p.m. a fun race will be held on the Boardwalk race course where
each participant will get two chances for prizes for fastest run, slowest
run, and craziest dressed. That will be followed by the closing reception
with a silent auction, race prizes, hors d'oeuvres, refreshments, and
thank you to sponsors at the Sugarloaf Hotel.
Karl's Kids is looking for sponsors for the event and silent auction
items. If you interested in having a fun time at Sugarloaf and to raise
money for children in Lincoln County, contact Mike Hall at 631-1471. All
donations should be made out to "Karl's Kids," c/o Damariscotta-Newcastle
Rotary Club, P.O. Box 363, Waldoboro, ME 04572.
