Alna Facilities Planning Committee
Alna voters are invited to attend an informational meeting on Thursday evening March 27, at 7 p.m. at the Fire House meeting room to discuss the new fire house proposals that will be presented at the next town meeting.
In summary, the Alna Facilities Planning Committee (AFPC) recommends and endorses the construction of an independent fire house with an attached meeting room and combined fire training area at a cost of $766,000. This equates to a tax impact of $78 per $100,000 evaluation. The building would be located on the land behind the present Alna Town hall. In the event that this is not favorable with the town vote in March 2008 we present an alternative selection, to construct an addition and make renovations to the current fire house at a cost of $466,000. The tax impact for the addition and renovation to the fire house is $46 per $100,000 evaluation.
The AFPC ask the town citizens to take into consideration our recommendation and provide a positive vote for action that will serve the town needs and interest over the next twenty-five years. Now is an opportune time to build or expand with lower interest rates and the building trades in need of work that can result in lower construction cost and minimize the tax impact of Alna citizens.
We the committee, encourage Alna voters to attend the information meeting and have an opportunity to explain how we reached our final decision and give us an opportunity to answer your questions. Again, the information meeting will be presented by the AFPC on Thursday, March 27, at 7 p.m. prior to the Saturday town meeting. |
