Midcoast Sustainable Energy
Energy bills got you down? Come to the second annual Midcoast
Sustainable Energy Expo. Learn about renewable energy products,
energy-efficient heating systems and construction techniques, affordable
ways to reduce your fuel consumption, and much more. The expo will be held
at the Central Lincoln County YMCA in Damariscotta on Friday, April 18
from noon to 6 p.m. and Saturday, April 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
There will be exhibits, demonstrations and workshops on a variety of
topics, such as climate change and what to do about it; micro-hydro, solar
and wind power; low and zero fossil energy construction; and electric cars
that need little or no gasoline. You can watch and discuss a film about
the future of oil.
Learn about home energy audits designed to show how you can
cost-effectively improve your old farmhouse or not-so-old cape to keep you
comfortable during Maine's cold winter. Discover how to build your own
greenhouse and make your own inside storm windows. Win a free professional
energy audit.
Find out about legislation that needs your support, designed to help us
meet the challenge of converting from fossil fuel dependency to a solar
economy. Chat with school children at work on energy projects and
grown-ups generating power from the sun's energy.
Eat wholesome local food and meet others who care about the Earth just
as much as you do. Go home knowing more about what you can do and where
you can find help.
The Expo is a project of the Midcoast Green Collaborative, a local
volunteer citizen initiative, in partnership with our generous sponsors.
We have no paid staff and additional volunteers are always welcome! If
you are interested in volunteering to help out at the Expo and receiving
one of our coveted T-shirts, contact our volunteer coordinator Katie
