The Wiscasset Bradford-Sortwell-Wright American Legion Post 54 proudly
announces the re-activation of the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron
54 Charter. There are currently 33 paid members, made up of previous
Charter members, as well as many brand new members.
The first fundraiser that we are undertaking is a bottle drive in
Wiscasset on Saturday, May 10. The proceeds will benefit youth and
community programs.
We will be holding our monthly meeting on Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m.
Then we will proceed with the bottle drive. Any members that are
interested in helping are asked to come to the meeting at 10 a.m. or to
the Legion at 11 a.m.
Anyone with bottles they would like to donate can contact on of the
people listed at the end of this article.
The normal monthly meeting will be held on the second Sunday of the
month at 10 a.m. This month we are holding the meeting on Saturday, May 10
because Sunday is Mother's Day.
We would like to have as many members attend the meeting as possible.
We have a lot of new ideas and plans and can always use more ideas and
people to make things happen.
Anyone who is interested in becoming a member can call one of the
following three people to find out eligibility requirements. Annual dues
are $15 for members over the age of 16. For under 16, as well as dual
members (members of the American Legion and Sons of the American Legion)
are $8. You can call Vance Bailey, Sr., Commander, 485-4989; Jerry Bailey,
First Vice Commander, 380-5974; or James Bailey, Finance/Adjutant,
446-6814.
