Alna awards plowing contract
Alna Selectmen granted a three- year snow plowing bid from Hanley Construction of Bristol on May 7. Of the seven bids submitted, Hanley's was the lowest, at $149,495 for the first year of the contract. - Kate Kastelein

County receives $125,000 from jail
Lincoln County Commissioners got some good news at their meeting last week from County Administrator James McMahon when he told them a check for $125,000 had been received from the Lincoln Sagadahoc Jail Authority. - Charlotte Boynton

Moratorium `too vague,' selectmen told
Wording in a citizens' petition, calling for a moratorium on all "commercial use" buildings is too vague, according to the Maine Municipal Association, Edgecomb Selectman Stuart Smith reported to his fellow selectmen at their weekly meeting. - Kate Kastelein

Repairs on Davey Bridge start next week
Next week, starting on Monday, May 19 through Friday, May 23, the Maine Department of Transportation bridge maintenance division crews will be doing repairs to the concrete headers (bridge ends) on the Donald E. Davey Bridge, which carries Route 1.
